Tony Fairweather is the President & Founder at SEA Electric
After completing a Mechanical Engineering Degree, Tony entered the corporate world with Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA), during which time he completed a Master of Business in Enterprise Innovation, which commenced his passion for entrepreneurship.
After 5 years with CCA, Tony moved into Management Consulting, during which time he completed a Master of Business Administration (International Business), to obtain the educational background he felt he required to be successful in a global environment.
An opportunity to head business units within TNT Express (in two states) was taken up, which provided full P&L responsibilities, and invaluable IR and HR experience. After 4 years, Tony was ready to start his own businesses.
Since this time (in 2006), Tony has established 3 companies, and has a substantial shareholding in a 4th.
Patico Automotive, which imports, distributes, and supports a range of niche commercial vehicle brands in Australia and New Zealand. With more than 1000 units sold during this period, Patico is now producing some localized product for one of their brands, which is allowing further Australian employment and local component supply.
SEA Electric is an automotive technology company that has developed a range of proprietary electric drivetrain models, targeting commercial distribution and delivery vehicles. This includes 5 x SEA-Drive models, that electrify 4t delivery vans, right up to 30t 8x2 rigid vehicles. SEA Electric now has operations and/or license partners in 8 countries and growing rapidly.
The SEA Foundation has been established as a way to give back to the community.
As Chief Strategy Officer, Mike leads the development and execution of SEA Electric’s corporate strategy, including the company’s focus on fleet electrification, advanced mobility, and the alignment of its product and technology portfolio. He also leads SEA Electric’s partnership and merger & acquisition activities.
During his career, Mike has developed deep expertise in strategy, corporate development, P&L management, and change management. He has worked with start-ups, a strategy consulting firm, and Fortune 500 environments to create, build, and drive strategies to grow revenue, enhance shareholder value, and drive market leadership. He joined SEA Electric from Genpact, where he spent more than three years as the Global Growth Leader for the financial services business. Prior to that, Mike worked with Accenture, Fifth Third Bank, and SunTrust (now Truist). He also has a long record of multi-cultural experiences, having worked across the United States, Europe, and Australia.
Mike earned a bachelor’s degree from Miami University (Oxford, OH) and is an alum of the Harvard Business School.
As General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, Katie leads all legal, compliance, and corporate governance functions for the company.
Katie previously served as Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary of Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation (NASDAQ: GLDD), the largest provider of dredging services in the United States. Katie began her legal practice as a litigation attorney in the Chicago office of Winston & Strawn LLP where she focused on commercial litigation and patent litigation. Katie is a frequent speaker on topics related to risk, compliance, international law, and finance for lawyers.
Katie holds an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law. Katie graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
As Vice President of Engineering, Joseph is responsible for managing new product research and development, evaluating and implementing new technologies, and making sure that engineering meets SEA Electric's corporate goals.
Prior to SEA Electric, Joseph worked with Smith Electric Vehicles based in the United States. He was part of a team that successfully deployed 500+ electric trucks to several major companies, including FedEx, Frito, and Red Bull. He also led a team in the development of a bi-directional microgrid system that was capable of transferring energy to and from the electric vehicle. Joseph has an extensive electric vehicle background in lithium batteries, battery pack design, high power distribution, onboard charging, electric vehicle service equipment (EVSE), battery management system (BMS), and electrical architecture. He has led engineering teams to develop multiple new products on electric trucks, including onboard chargers and battery power systems.
Joseph has a Bachelor of Science in Electromechanical Engineering from Loras College. He has a Master's of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's of Engineering in Systems Engineering from Iowa State University.
Jay is responsible for electrical systems and model-based software engineering design followed by verification, validation, and integration process to produce optimized electric vehicles.
Before SEA Electric, Jay worked as a Software Engineer in the Wireless Terminal Division at Samsung Electronics in India. He was part of a team that worked on new and innovative mobile phone technologies. His work on the mobile phone texting algorithm resulted in a US patent with Samsung. Jay also worked with Deakin University. At Deakin University, he was part of the industrial prototyping team that worked on new and innovative projects from concept to prototype. His work there has produced one journal paper, two conference papers, and one patent.
Jay has a Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunication for BMSCE (India) and a Master of Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunication from Deakin University (Australia).
Aidin is responsible for design, implementation, and evaluating the mechanical systems. He also ensures that the mechanical integration between SEA-Drives and gliders are done properly, the new designs satisfy the customers and regulations requirements, and the current systems are improved during the continuous improvement process.
Prior to joining SEA Electric, he was a Technical Inspector of automotive parts for Nissan and Kia brands. He accepted the role of Technical Manager at an investment casting factory that manufactured Peugeot’s gearbox parts. He also taught engineering courses while at Deakin University.
Aidin holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanic in Solid Design, and MSc of Product Development and Engineering Management from Deakin University. He is in the process of completing his Ph.D. at Deakin University.
As Regional Director, Glen leads the SEA Electric APAC operational activities including new product, design for manufacture, assembly systems innovation and product distribution channels. Derived from practical industry experience, Glen takes a keen interest in the commercialization of SEA Electric technology in the Truck, Van, and Bus markets.
Glen is an experienced senior executive in the automotive and transport sectors. He had an 18-year career at Kenworth Australia that included roles as Chief Engineer of Kenworth Trucks, and Group Operations and National Sales for Kenworth Australia. He spent 3 years on executive assignment with PACCAR in Seattle. More recently he was General Manager of MaxiTRANS responsible for Freighter, Maxi-CUBE, and Peki brands and CEO of Sargeant Transport, a 130 prime mover and 200 specialized trailer fleet servicing MARS, McCain's, Fonterra, Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, and Metcash.
Glen has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mech) from the University of Melbourne and a Postgraduate in Business Administration from the University of NSW.
